In early 2024 we were very excited to move into our beautiful south facing site in Wisewood on the edge of the Loxley Valley in North West Sheffield. It is close to the many amenities of Hillsborough and has public transport links into Hillsborough and the town centre. The building was completed in partnership with Oakworth Homes. After gaining planning permission in April 2022 we completed the complicated transfer of the leasehold on the land from Sheffield City Council and from Oakworth Homes in November 2022. We then signed a build contract with Oakworth Homes and building work started in December 2022 and completed in February 2024.

We have 22 units, ranging from 1 and 2 bed apartments to 2 and 3 bed houses, along with a substantial Common House with space to meet and socialise, as well as a laundry and guest bedrooms. All are built to high environmental standards. Outside shared space includes communal growing areas, wildlife friendly spaces, bike sheds and play areas. Our aim is to have as few cars as possible. Some of our members are involved in car sharing schemes, and others are actively exploring this. We encourage the use of bikes and public transport. We engage positively with the local community by getting involved in local initiatives and campaigns. All units are currently occupied, but of course some may be available to rent or to buy in the future.

SOLAR PANELS

Almost all of our units were able to support the purchase of solar panels, including on the roof of our common house. This was done with the kind collaboration and support of Sheffield Renewables.

AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS

We are using air source heat pumps throughout the site supplied by Midlands Renewables.
